Philanthropy at Sense

By making a significant gift, you will help Sense continue to provide the vital care and support to disabled people and their families. Together, we are working towards removing societal and communication barriers, empowering people with disabilities so that everyone can live life to the full.

Where your support can go

Your donation can support our work, including:

  • Creative & sports programmes – Sense Arts and wellbeing, and Sense Active – programmes that empower people with complex disabilities to express themselves, move, and connect.
  • Sense holidays – Enabling disabled people to go on an accessible holiday, where they can grow in confidence, connect with others and make incredible memories.
  • Children specialist services – From sensory play sessions, accessible fun family days to specific and tailored support, our children and young people services are vital in helping disabled children to develop their ability to communicate, socialise and play. We also help families with access to appropriate education, health and care.
  • Employment – The disability employment gap needs to be closed. In the UK, the employment rate for disabled people is around 52%, compared to 81% for non-disabled people. Our employment service supports disabled people in searching for jobs, filling out applications, tips for interviews, help in applications for Access to Work scheme and so much more.
  • Policy & campaigns – We want to make sure that people with complex disabilities and their families are reflected in government policy and decision. Our research provides insight and knowledge that help the general public, decision makers, and organisations to make changes that benefit people who are deafblind or have other complex disabilities.

We also have exciting, innovative projects in need of visionary support—your gift could bring them to life.

Our Philanthropy Team

Since joining Sense as a Philanthropy Manager, I have been in awe of the role that our services play in people’s lives, from our Early Intervention and Play Service that encourages children to communicate through play, to Sense Holidays, which enables disabled people and their families to make friends, try new things and create life lasting memories.

At Sense, our services provide vital support to those that need them most, often filing the gap left by cuts in local authority provision.  As a donor, your generosity does more than support a cause — it is a life line to those we support. When you give, you stand beside disabled people and their families, opening doors to possibilities.

I believe no one should be excluded from joy, independence, or connection simply because they are disabled. That’s what drives me every day at Sense.

As a Philanthropy Manager, I have the privilege of helping generous individuals turn their passion into impact—whether that means funding sensory play for a child who is deafblind, or making it possible for someone to try something new like climbing, swimming, or dancing. I’m here to make giving feel personal, powerful, and deeply connected to the lives it changes.

Working at Sense, I’m continually moved by the difference we make for families who might otherwise feel isolated or overlooked. Every day, I see how our support helps people with complex needs to feel connected, more independent, and able to enjoy life.

It’s a real privilege to be part of creating meaningful experiences – whether that’s accessing the arts or enjoying the outdoors. I’m passionate about building relationships with philanthropists and linking them to opportunities that make a lasting impact. Knowing that, together, we can bring hope, dignity, and inclusion to so many is what drives me each day.
