6 November 2024<\/strong> \u2013 The national disability charity Sense has appointed a new chair, Mark Cammies, who has been a trustee for the charity since 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark takes over from Justin Molloy who is Professor of Biophysics at Warwick University and a visiting scientist at the Francis Crick Institute in London. Justin steps down from Sense\u2019s board after ten years, seven of which serving as Chair.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark Cammies, who has more than 35 years\u2019 experience in property, portfolio management and development arenas and has held board and executive senior positions with a number of industry-leading retailers, will take over the role from 12 December 2024.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 is set to be an exciting year for Sense, the leading charity supporting people with complex disabilities, such as deafblindness. It will celebrate its 70th<\/sup> anniversary, and in February, James Watson-O\u2019Neill will take over the role of chief executive from Richard Kramer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Justin Molloy, outgoing chair of Sense, said<\/strong>: \u201cIt\u2019s been an honour to serve as a trustee of Sense for ten years and chair for the past seven years. I have always viewed Sense as a \u201cdoing\u201d charity with more than three thousand staff and two thousand volunteers working tirelessly to make an amazing, positive difference to the lives of the people we support. As I pass the baton over to Mark, I look forward to seeing the charity enter an exciting new chapter as it marks 70 years of supporting people who are deafblind and have other complex disabilities.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark Cammies, incoming chair of Sense, said<\/strong>: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to build on Justin\u2019s great work as chair of trustees at Sense and continue to grow the organisation as a force for positive change. I\u2019d like to take the opportunity to thank Dr Justin Molloy for all the incredible work he\u2019s done for the charity \u2013 I have big shoes to fill!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richard Kramer, chief executive of Sense, said:<\/strong> \u201cMark is an excellent appointment who will bring a wealth of experience to the chair of trustees role, including from other trustees boards and senior leadership positions. Sense is in an exciting period of change and development, and I look forward to seeing Mark thrive in his new role.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
