You\u2019ll need to set aside some time to fill it out. The form can\u2019t be completed on a phone or tablet. It\u2019s best to either print it and fill it out by hand, or use a PDF reader (for example, Adobe Acrobat) to fill it out on a computer. You can also <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.dwp.gov.uk\/request-an-accessible-format\/contact\">request the application form in an accessible format<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can then send the form by freepost to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/disability-living-allowance-children\/how-to-claim\">Find out more about how to apply for DLA for children.&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nidirect.gov.uk\/articles\/disability-living-allowance-children\">Get more information about Disability Living Allowance in Northern Ireland.&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The charity Contact offers <a href=\"https:\/\/contact.org.uk\/help-for-families\/information-advice-services\/benefits-financial-help\/benefits-and-tax-credits\/disability-living-allowance\/tips-on-completing-the-dla-form\/\">detailed guidance on how to fill out the DLA claim form<\/a>. Your local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizensadvice.org.uk\/\">Citizens Advice<\/a> might also be able to help you with your application.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>My child gets DLA <\/strong><strong>\u2013 <\/strong><strong>what else am I entitled to?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your child gets DLA, or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/child-disability-payment\">Child Disability Payment<\/a> in Scotland, you might be entitled to extra money on other benefits you receive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-primary-bullets\">\n<li>Universal Credit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Child Tax Credit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Housing Benefit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you spend more than 35 hours a week looking after your child, you might also be eligible for Carer\u2019s Allowance. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sense.org.uk\/information-and-advice\/benefits-and-money\/carer-benefits\/\">Find out more about Carer\u2019s Allowance.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need more support, get more help with day-to-day costs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wp-block-hs-group  align-full\">\t\t<div class=\"wrap\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pip\"><strong>Personal Independence Payment (PIP) <\/strong><strong>\u2013<\/strong><strong> for children over 16<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When your child turns 16, they will no longer be eligible for DLA. Instead, they should apply for Personal Independence Payment (PIP).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find out more about how to apply for PIP when your child turns 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Scotland, the Child Disability Payment is paid up until your child turns 18.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wp-block-hs-group  align-full\">\t\t<div class=\"wrap\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"universalcredit\"><strong>Universal Credit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Universal Credit is a monthly payment to support living costs. It\u2019s available for people on low incomes in lots of different circumstances. It\u2019s replacing the following benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-secondary-bullets\">\n<li>Child Tax Credit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Housing Benefit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Income Support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Income-based Jobseeker\u2019s Allowance (JSA).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working Tax Credit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you already receive any of these benefits, you don\u2019t need to do anything. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will contact you if you\u2019re being moved to Universal Credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re not already receiving any of these benefits, you might want to consider applying for Universal Credit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/universal-credit\/eligibility\">Find out more about who is eligible for Universal Credit.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wp-block-hs-group  align-full\">\t\t<div class=\"wrap\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Disability Living Allowance and Universal Credit<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your child gets DLA, or the Child Disability Payment in Scotland, you may also receive the disabled child element of Universal Credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an extra \u00a3156.11 a month if your child is categorised as \u201cdisabled\u201d, or \u00a3487.58 a month if they are \u201cseverely disabled\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/universal-credit\/what-youll-get\">Find out more about what amount of Universal Credit you might be eligible for.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You could also receive extra Universal Credit if you care for your child for more than 35 hours a week. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sense.org.uk\/information-and-advice\/benefits-and-money\/carer-benefits\/#carerelement\">Read more about the carer element of Universal Credit.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wp-block-hs-group  align-full\">\t\t<div class=\"wrap\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"childbenefit\"><strong>Child Benefit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You might be able to claim Child Benefit if you have a child who is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-primary-bullets\">\n<li>Under 16, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under 20 and in approved education or training.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t get extra Child Benefit if your child is disabled.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you live in Scotland and your child is under six years old, you might also be able to claim the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/scottish-child-payment\">Scottish Child Payment<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is Child Benefit?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Child Benefit is a payment made every four weeks to support the costs of raising a child.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How much is Child Benefit?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll get \u00a326.05 per week for your first child. You can also get \u00a317.25 per week for any additional children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who is entitled to Child Benefit?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone can claim this benefit, but if you or your partner earns over \u00a350,000 individually, you might be taxed on it. It\u2019s best to speak to an adviser to find out what\u2019s best for you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can get Child Benefit if you have a disabled child, but you won\u2019t get extra because of their disability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/child-benefit\">Find out more about Child Benefit at gov.uk.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wp-block-hs-group  align-full\">\t\t<div class=\"wrap\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"childtaxcredit\"><strong>Child Tax Credit&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Child Tax Credit is a payment to support people on low incomes with children.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been replaced by Universal Credit.
