Life is tough right now for the 1.6 million British people with complex needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people we support tell us they’re struggling to pay for essentials like food and energy. The social care they receive is inadequate, and the welfare system is in urgent need of reform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new government has the potential to break down these barriers and change lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us in asking politicians to prioritise the issues that matter to disabled people. <\/p>\n\n\n

Disabled people make up 22% of the UK population<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One in 10 disabled people \u2013 that\u2019s 1.6 million in total \u2013 have complex needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the end of the next parliament this will have risen to 2 million. <\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

How the new government should prioritise disabled people<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before the 2024 General Election we outlined a plan for change<\/a><\/strong> for the new government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To put disabled people at the heart of their plans, the new government should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Work with disabled people on plans for a National Care Service <\/strong>to make sure no one misses out on the right care.\u202f\u202f <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Set out bold new laws to support more disabled children <\/strong>to access education and care support so that every child has the best start in life.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Fix the benefits system\u202f<\/strong>so that every disabled person can afford the essentials, and disabled jobseekers get the right support. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Introduce an Energy Social Tariff <\/strong>for disabled people who urgently need extra support this winter. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
