Fundraising ideas
Find your perfect fundraising idea
Coming up with a fundraising idea is easier than it seems! To make sure you have fun whilst raising money, we recommend you think about bringing two things together:
-
Hobbies
No matter what you love – football, knitting, gaming or being outdoors – there’s always a fun way to turn your hobby into a fundraiser!
-
Community
Look to the communities around you – your workplace, school, place of worship or online groups. Your community is most likely to be your biggest supporter!
Whatever you love, bring people together, share your hobby and fundraise your way! You could run a bake sale, host a sports day or organise a lunchtime quiz. Here are some of our favourite fundraising ideas:
Fundraising ideas list
Quick win ideas:

- Social media posts – Social media is the best place to start sharing your fundraising page. Did you know that people who share their fundraising page on social media raise on average 65% more money? It may take a few reminders!
- Incentives – These are a great way to encourage larger donations. An example could be: Donate £5 and choose a song to add to my playlist on the day.
- Workplace matched giving – Many businesses match donations up to 100%. You can contact your HR department to find out more.
- Print posters with a QR code – You can create a free QR code at home, print it out and put it up in your local community. We also have fundraising materials to support you, including sponsorship forms that you can print out and use for any offline donations.
Simple starter ideas:

- 5 a side football – Organise a 5 a side football match at your local park and charge a fee to play! You could even host a tournament and sort out a prize from local businesses.
- Pub quiz – Contact your local pub to set it up and charge an entry fee. You could even ask the pub for a tab prize or contact local businesses.
- International food night – Bring foods from different countries round the world and charge either an attendance fee or per portion.
- Bake sale – The classic bake sale. An old one but a hit every time, contact your community groups and enlist the help of the bakers you know!
Go big or go home ideas:

- Raffle – Raffles are always a big hit. Contact local businesses for prizes, letting them know you are fundraising. You can then post the raffle online or you can spread the word at your work / school and sell tickets.
- Concert – Looking to make a big impact in one night? Why not contact local venues and musicians (or get up there yourself) to host a fundraiser! Scroll down to the bottom to hear from Stef who hosted a Deaf Choir Queen night!
- Sports day – Host a sports day at your local school / park! There are loads of games to do from 100m sprints, beanbag throwing to egg and spoon races. Charge an entry fee to fundraise.
- Sell and make goods – Talented at crafts? Why not sell some of your creations online or at markets and donate the profits, or a portion of them, to charity!
Budget friendly ideas:

- Sell on Vinted – Want to help the planet and Sense at the same time? You can clear out your wardrobe / house and sell your old clothes on Vinted, donating the proceeds to your fundraising.
- Swap it for Sense – Invite your friends over, charge a door fee and start swapping clothes or presents! You can do this at home, no venue needed!
- Stream it for Sense – Love playing video games? Why not stream it? It’s one of the easiest ways to raise money for Sense from home. You don’t need to be a professional gamer – you just need an internet connection and a game you enjoy!
- Car wash – Get your friends together and go round your community / set up a station and offer to wash cars. You may even see a tip or two when they know it’s for a good cause!
Ideas for fundraising at work
Raise money throughout the seasons
With the help of my talented signing choir, we organised a Queen themed charity fundraiser.
The event included a Queen quiz that tested everyone’s knowledge of the legendary band, a raffle with prizes donated by the choir members, and an evening of BSL signed Queen songs!
Stef – One of our amazing fundraisers, organised a Deaf Choir Queen night and raised over £900!
